Welcome to UN100!

Bonjour!

I chose to teach UN100 because I was first in my family to graduate from college and didn't have any positive role models while I navigated through high school and college (except for my awesome French teacher!). When I first arrived to the NMU campus in the Fall of 1988, I was lost and I almost failed my first semester. I feel that most students are told to "go to college" but really don't know what that entails. I have dedicated my career to these types of students. I look beyond appearances and love to interact with different types of people. I taught high school French and English for 10 years before moving back to Marquette. I'm currently a Counselor for Upward Bound. I love teaching - it's what I do, and my "at-risk" students are the closest to my heart. I just finished my Master's degree in Secondary Education, and I am so excited to pass on my knowledge. Oh, and I LOVE to snowboard -- been doing it since high school!

Now that you are here at NMU, it's time to reflect upon your goals and expectations. Why are you here? Why did you choose the CLS major? What are your career aspirations? How will you get there?

Yes, yes, this is a lot to ponder in the first week but something you must focus on.

These are hypothetical questions, please proceed to Blog #1 which is due by midnight 9/9/09...
